5 Ways to reduce underarm pigmentation :

Your underarms are one of the most sensitive areas on your body and pigmentation can occur in this region due to a number of reasons.

Unfortunately, your armpits are often visible on the beach, whenever you wear sleeveless, or whenever you raise your arms, so even the slightest discoloration needs to be taken care of. Healthmeup expert Dr Kiran Lohia, MD, advices us on how to manage pigmentation or darkening of the underarm skin.
Natural Beauty Tips - Reduce underarm Pigmentation

Avoid Friction

Friction is a big cause of pigmentation and results from excessive sweating, lack of antiperspirants, tight clothes, hot weather or from being overweight. Try to keep the area dry by showering often, using deodorant and change out of sweaty clothes immediately. Look for clothes that are made from cotton and breathe easily. Also, if you are overweight try and lose weight. This will significantly reduce the pigmentation in your underarm area.

Treat Your Fungal Infections

Very often, fungus likes to grow in the dark moist area in the armpits. These fungi cause redness, itching and also pigmentation. If you have any of these symptoms, visit your dermatologist immediately and get treated for the fungal infection.

Watch out for Diabetes

Many people who are either prone to diabetes or have diabetes have a velvety pigmentation in the underarm area known as Acanthosis Nigricans. To help manage this darkening, get yourself checked out for diabetes and if you are overweight, lose weight. Also start a healthy exercising and diet programme to keep your blood sugar in check. Finally, see your dermatologist who will prescribe a topical retinoid, topical glycolic acid or chemical peels to help you deal with the pigmentation.

Stop Shaving

Shaving the underarm area results in stubble in the area, making it appear darker than it actually is. Start waxing or get laser hair removal done so that the hair follicles are removed entirely, leaving your armpits bare, hair-free and fresh!

Visit Your Dermatologist

If you're still suffering from pigmentation after doing all of the above, then it is time to visit a skin specialist. He or she will prescribe a treatment that will help you get rid of your underarm darkening, allowing you to wear sleeveless clothes.
